Cavett Kids Foundation

The Cavett Kids Foundation provides four very different camps:

Camp Cavett is for any child with a life-threatening or chronic illness.  It is held at Lake Texoma. 
Kamp Kidney is for children with kidney problems.  It is held in Guthrie, OK.
Camp Wildfire is for Spina Bifida patients.  It is held in Guthrie, OK.
Ski Camp is for teens that have muscle loss and/or amputations caused by cancer.  It takes place in Winter Park, CO.  

The camps enable patients, ages 10 to 18, to experience the joy of childhood recreational activities available to other children. Camps and retreats are a fun-filled alternative to the isolation that often results from chronic illness, repeated hospitalizations, or long term medical treatments. By living and playing together, campers begin to realize and acknowledge that they are not alone in their difficulty. Many begin to share their feelings with their peers, discussing personal fears and victories and the constant worry of rejection due to being different. 

All of our camps are free of charge and have a full-time nursing staff to care for the patients.  Parents can rest assured that their ill child is getting adequate care when they are away from home.  This helps the parents and patients have a well-deserved break from the stresses and trials of their every day life.
